Luke 1:38
Why did God choose Mary above all the other women? It wasn’t because of her education, since she didn’t have any. It wasn’t because of her wealth, since she was poor. It wasn’t because she was mature, since she was just a teenager. What was so special about Mary was her plain ordinariness. God took an ordinary woman and used her in an extraordinary way. When the angel of God first appeared to Mary to announce her conception, Mary was shocked, confused and probably scared to death.
Running through her mind was the fear of criticism: “What would everyone think?”
There was the fear of supernatural: “What would happen to me physically?”
There was the fear of inadequacy: “How can I handle this?”
There was also possibly the fear of change: “how would this mess up my future?”
These fears have the potential to cripple your life and destiny in God.
Mary had many fears and considerations. But in spite of her fears, she chose to trust in God. Faith is not the absence of fear. In fact, faith wouldn’t be faith without the presence of fear and doubt.
So what kind of person does God use?
First of all, God uses people who desire to do His will. You must wan to do His will more than anything else. God has a plan for your life but that plan is not automatic. You can miss that purpose and opportunity when it is presented to you. When Gabriel presented God’s plan to Mary, she responded with great enthusiasm and humility. Her attitude in life determined her altitude in God.
Secondly, God uses people who decide to pay the price. Being the mother of the Saviour would cost Mary her reputation, comfort and even possibly her life. Her pregnancy, seemingly out of wedlock, could have warranted a death penalty for the suspicion of sexual immorality. Yet, in Mary’s mind, no price was too high to pay to do God’s will.
Finally, God uses people who dare to trust His promises. Mary responded by saying, “Let it be to me according to your word.” Mary praised, worshipped, prayed and confessed the rhema(Word of God) that was given to her. She stretched her faith and went after God’s promise to her in all its fullness.
God can always move in the extraordinary way n use simple ppl to do great thing for His kingdom… Thus we have to be like Mary, putting our trust in Him… N willing to scarifies for God… R u willing to put your trust in Him? R u gg to place your life on the alter of God? R u willing to let God use u in a greater way? Start from today by seeking the Lord in everyth u do… Seek First the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things shall be added to you. (Matt 6:33)
